We’re an independently owned Kingswell location serving Fort Lauderdale, and the crew that shows up at your gate is the same crew that answered the call. No subcontractors, no rotating door of strangers. Every technician is background-checked, uniformed, and trained on nine gate-operator brands before they ever set foot on your property. Between us we’ve got more than 60 combined years in the trade, and most of our work comes from neighbors in Victoria Park, Coral Ridge, Rio Vista, and Lauderdale Harbors who’ve had us out more than once. That’s how it should work.

Our People
Dean Prescott, Owner
Dean founded Portcullis Gate Repair Fort Lauderdale back in 2008, and he still runs jobs himself most weeks. If you’ve got a swing gate that’s grinding or a slide gate that’s binding on its track, there’s a fair chance the person on the other end of the phone line at 6 a.m. is him. He’d rather tell you “that’s going to run you roughly $180 to $260 depending on the operator model” before he even sees the gate, because the surprise is the worst part of a repair bill. Dean’s been known to point out that a gate that won’t close is doing half its job, which in South Florida is the wrong half. He keeps the 365-Day Done Right Promise running because he’s the one who signs it on every invoice.
Rafael M., Lead Technician
Rafael has been with Portcullis since 2012 and handles the bulk of our heavier electric gate repair work in Fort Lauderdale. He’s factory-trained on LiftMaster and FAAC operators, and he’s the one we send when a control board has a fault code that doesn’t make sense at first glance. There’s not much on a gate system he hasn’t pulled apart and put back together, usually cleaner than he found it. His specialty is actuator replacement, the motorized arm that physically pushes the gate open, which means he’s done more swing-gate swaps in eastern Broward than most companies do in a year. Off the clock, he rebuilds old motorcycles in his garage, which may explain why he never looks frustrated at a seized hinge.
Nathalie R., Senior Installer
Nathalie has been welding and setting posts for over twenty years, and she leads our gate installation and new-operator crews across Fort Lauderdale. She’s the reason our installs survive hurricane season without leaning, because she engineers the footing for the soil we actually have here, not the theoretical soil from a manual. Before we pour, she calculates for sand, water table, and proximity to salt air, which eats cheap steel like breakfast. Nathalie also runs our access control retrofits, so if you’ve got an old DoorKing that needs a new receiver or a Ghost Controls system that needs proper range setup, she’s likely the one mapping it out. She’ll tell you straight if a repair won’t hold, and she’d rather talk you out of a job than leave you with a gate that fails in a year.
Marcus T., Service Coordinator
Marcus is the voice on the phone when you call at 2 a.m. and a gate has sagged off its track. He’s been dispatching for Kingswell companies since 2016 and keeps the schedule tight enough that we hit our arrival windows ninety-five percent of the time. He knows which technician to send based on the operator you have, not just who’s closest, because sending the wrong person wastes your time and ours. Marcus grew up in Fort Lauderdale and can route around a drawbridge opening better than any GPS. He’s the one who confirms your written price before the truck rolls, so what you’re quoted on the phone matches what’s on the invoice.
One Standard, Every Job
Every Kingswell location, including ours here in Fort Lauderdale, runs on five commitments that have been in place since the network was founded. We say the price before the work, in writing, every time. We show up in the window we gave you, and if we’re running late, you’ll hear from a real person, not a text bot. We leave the job site cleaner than we found it, which means no cut zip ties in your bushes or grease prints on your driveway. We stamp the Kingswell Guarantee on every repair invoice, covering parts and labor for 365 days. And if something fails inside that year, we come back and fix it at no charge. That’s the standard in all 13 cities we serve, down to the same language on the same paperwork. It’s not a franchise promise. It’s a written one, and the crew you just read about is the crew that backs it.
